How does Filby fit my workflow?
Scan connected drives’ top-level folders. Add clients, tags, notes or shelf labels. Unplug and search the catalog. Rescans match known records.
What does Filby actually keep?
Names, locations, storage measurements and notes stay on your Mac. Each Mac keeps a separate catalog, without automatic sync.
Can I open files while a drive is offline?
Find the project in your catalog, then reconnect its drive to access the files.
Does Filby move or delete my files?
No. Removing a catalog entry leaves your media where it is. Archive reminders never delete files.
How are review dates calculated?
A six-digit project or folder date, such as 250220 for 20 February 2025, sets the recording date. Review it, then mark it handled.
Is the beta free?
The beta is free, with no account or usage timer. The Mac download is coming soon.
